Procedures
At Los Angeles Neurology, Dr. Benmoshe uses the latest techniques and technologies to diagnose and treat neurological conditions, including complex and rare disorders.
Top Services
EEG (Electroencephalogram) Testing
We provide EEG testing for:
An electroencephalogram (EEG) measures the brain’s electrical activity through small electrodes attached to the scalp. The test is used to diagnose sleep disorders, epilepsy, brain tumors, and other neurological conditions.
In analyzing an EEG, Dr. Benmoshe evaluates factors like overall brain wave speed and form. He also looks for abnormalities, such as rapid spiking waves that point to seizure activity or unusually slow waves associated with tumors or stroke.
EEGs also monitor blood flow in the brain and overall electrical activity to evaluate the effects of brain damage, trauma, and drug abuse.
EMG/NCV Nerve Conduction Testing
EMG/NCV testing is available for:
Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) tests measure electrical activity in muscles and nerves, typically in the arms and legs. These tests identify conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and radiculopathy.
While an NCV test measures how fast electrical impulses move through the nerves, an EMG tracks electrical activity in the muscles. Dr. Benmoshe often pairs these tests to better identify the location and extent of damage in the nerves and muscles.
BOTOX® Injections
We provide BOTOX injections for:
BOTOX is an effective tool for treating movement disorders related to muscle twitches and spasms. Its active ingredient, botulinum toxin, temporarily blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine to reduce muscle contractions.
Patients experiencing conditions associated with overactive muscles, such as cervical dystonia, can reduce spasticity and restore movement and function through properly administered BOTOX injections.
In addition, botulinum toxin can block the release of chemicals that transmit pain signals. This function makes it an effective treatment for chronic migraines.
